11) Blade Buckling

Causes

  1. Cutting at a rapid feed rate while using an excessively high-powered machine.
  2. Blade rotates at an incorrect speed.
  3. Cutting at a forced angle causing undue sideways pressure at the blade`s core.
  4. Flange diameter is too small relative to the blade diameter or mismatched inner and outer flanges are used.
  5. An insufficiently tightened flange used during cutting causes sideways pressure at the blade`s core.

Corrective Actions and Preventive Measures

  1. Select a blade appropriate for the machine being used.
  2. Verify the rotational speed using a tachometer 
    (crucial when cutting concrete).
  3. Adjust the machine to ensure that the blade moves straight along the cutting groove.
  4. Use a flange diameter appropriate for the blade diameter.
  5. Securely tighten and ensure the outer flange and fastening nut are firmly seated.

12) Center Hole Deformation

Causes

  1. Using a worn mounting shaft results in improper blade installation.
  2. Insufficiently tightened flange causes blade to slip on the mounting shaft.

Corrective Actions and Preventive Measures

  1. Temporarily mount the blade and confirm that there is no play between the mounting shaft and the blade arbor hole.
  2. Tighten the flange securely.
