History

Our origins date back to 1915, when our founder, Shigeki Hayashi, established Hayashi Automobile Works. His pioneering spirit and determination to take on the challenge of building one of Japan's first domestically manufactured automobiles remain the driving force behind EXEN Engineering today.

Pursuing market trends, our founder shifted his attention to the booming construction industry. After four years of research and development, he engineered and patented Japan's first concrete vibrator.

After changing its name to Hayashi Manufacturing Co., Ltd., the company expanded in step with Japan's postwar reconstruction efforts and developed vibrators used for infrastructure projects throughout the country, including power stations and dam construction. During this period, the company introduced motor-driven vibrators and began supplying application-specific products to meet the growing needs of the market.

Through the successful development of innovative products, including the HV Series Vibrator, the Hayashi brand secured a position at the forefront of the vibrator industry. With this focus and after rapidly expanding its sales network by opening new offices in major cities throughout Japan, the name was changed again to Hayashi Vibrator Co., Ltd.

Beginning the decade with a Grand Prize in hand and driven by market demands for improved productivity and labor-saving solutions, EXEN introduced a number of innovative products, including the Viback dam vibrator system and the High-Frequency 48 V Series vibrators. The Viback has been used in large-scale infrastructure projects both in Japan and overseas, while the High-Frequency Series has become an industry standard in concrete placement.

To accommodate EXEN’s new growth, the company expanded its production capabilities by opening a new manufacturing facility in Soka, Saitama Prefecture. This milestone enabled the development of new products, including concrete cutters, diamond drills, and supported the expansion of the company's business portfolio. In addition, a company-wide computer network was introduced which integrated online business operations throughout the organization.

The 80’s brought with it complicated and diverse market demands. Answering the needs of food and pharmaceutical processing industries, EXEN developed Knockers and Blasters for the prevention of blockages of powders and bulk solids. Today, these products are used in a wide array of industries and have proven to be a key product line for the company. To further enhance its research and development capabilities and in response to a competitive market, the company established a Technology Research Building in 1989.

Still hungry and not satisfied with the status quo, EXEN’s ambitions reached America with its first overseas operation, a joint venture based in Little Rock, Arkansas. Once there, in addition to building a sales network to serve precast concrete manufacturers throughout the United States, the company also begins local production of selected products.

With each growth spurt and the subsequent development of new products, EXEN officially changed its name one last time. Merging together Hayashi Manufacturing Co., Ltd. and Hayashi Vibrator Co., Ltd. with the unifying philosophy of “Opening New Horizons Through Vibration Technology,” the logo and corporate identity are officially established as EXEN.

The new millennium brings new horizons into view with global expansion into China. Further expanding its international presence, the company established a wholly owned subsidiary, EXEN Vibration Machinery (Jiaxing) Co., Ltd., in the People's Republic of China. With a manufacturing plant and a sales operation overseas, as well as the subsequent completion of a second Chinese production facility, EXEN further enhances its manufacturing capacity and strengthens the company's global production network.

Marking our 100th anniversary, we rebuilt our facility at the Soka Factory. With a new streamlined layout, working conditions were enhanced by bringing all departments, including R&D, Production Engineering, Production Control, Logistics, and Information Systems within reach of one another, thereby strengthening collaboration and communication.
